First let me start by saying that all week long it looked as though Tomas was going to spare Haiti. All we were getting in Montrouis were speratic rains and medium winds. We were all still praying for Friday though as he was still out there.
Friday again brought speratic rains and wind. We fell asleep to moderate rain and wind. We were asleep for a couple of hours when, at 11:00 p.m. we were awakened with a mob of people running into our neighborhood screaming. We are first thought it was just a group congregating for the "time to time" arguments that occour.
It did not seem to be dying down and sounded as though they were all right at our gate. We heard Gary up so we got up to see what was happening. Richard went downstairs with Gary. All Richard could get from Gary is "all they are saying is " water, water, water, the water is coming!" He could not get the hysterical people to give him a straight answer. He finally got someone to say that the river was flooding and it was up to the houses. With his family living in town, close to the bridge, he got on his motorcycle and went home to check on them.
After he left we got a call from Roland and he was telling us that he was fixing to take his family higher up the mountain because of the rising waters. He feared the flood would reach us here. Richard talked to him and assured him that we, our area, is high enough that even if the river overflowed it's banks it would not reach us. He also told him that if he, and others simply just went up the mountain higher, they would face the danger of mudslides. Well, Roland decided to walk downtown to have a look at the river. He called us back and said that it was not up too much. The obvious threat to homes were higher up the river or down around the temporary bridge and that neighborhood. He decided to remain in his house.
We had a call from a missionary friend who's orphanage is between us and the public beach. She was worried her home may be jeapordized and Richard assured her she would be safe. We also recieved another call from another missionary who lives in town. He told us he'd heard that up river a house was washed away and 3 people killed. Of course, the actual destruction and casualties count will come in the days ahead.
After a couple of hours things began to settle down and we fell back asleep. Oh, we also got another call from Roland. He said the reason that the people were running and screaming into our neighborhood and heading to higher ground is that they thought a suname was coming.
This morning Gary left early to check on his family again and he road around to see the damage. He took some pictures. His camera is not the best and they are a little blurry, but I will try to add them. I also need to add that most of this distruction is down along the temporary bridge area. There is much debris gathered and clogging the too low temp. bridge. There is one house gone and another with two rooms washed away.I don't think these pictures are going to be easily viewed here. I will also posts them on FB. Please continue to pray for Haiti. Blessings, Richard and Beverly,

Just checking in. We have all Sept. Sundays booked. Plan on heading back to Haiti just after the last Sunday. We took our 9 mth. old Rottie to the vet this morning to be nuetered and tail docked. We will pick him up Wed. morning. My oldest son Brian is coming over Wed. night to help me with my new laptop to make sure all is ok with it and everything downloaded that needs to be.
The 2 horses that Heather and James bought this past weekend are doing well. We all rode Mon. night and they did great. AJ rode Boston, the shorter one, first led on a lead and then we actually took them out to the larger paddock and took off the lead and gave him instructions as he rode. He and the horse did very well. Especially since this was his first time to really ride. Papa lead him on his horse back in '07. When I figure out how to post pics on the blog I will put a couple of him on. Well, that's all for now.

Container Update
HOORAY, PRAISE THE LORD AND HALLALUJAH!!!!!! Gary just called (8/9/10). The container has been distributed. This process went quickly and without problems. He said that everyone was happy. Now, just continue to pray for the second one to be released this week.
Wonglis and the baby are doing well. This is the young woman that lost her house and entire family in the earthquake. Many of you have seen her picture and heard her story from us this summer. Gary said she and the baby seem to be over the hump now. They are healthy and the baby is a good looking boy and getting fat. Praise the Lord for answered prayers.

Good Afternoon, We had a great time in Branson, Mo. We left there for Metairie, La. to Celebration Church. This was founded by an old classmate from Chiefland High School, class of 1977, (whe-hoo), Go Indians!! Anyway, enough neastolgia. Dennis Watson is the pastor there and we reconnected on facebook and after talking about our ministry in Haiti, he invited us to stop there on the way home. We just left there this morning and it was a very moving weekend. His church is huge and the outreach ministry there is there for the La. area is unbelievable. God has really blessed Celebration Ch. We are so glad to have them partnering with Feed My Sheep. We have the first team from there coming in October. PTL!!
We just arrived in Defuniak Spgs. , Fla. and will be staying the night and having dinner with family here and make our way home Tuesday. God has really blessed our summer travels so far but, we will be glad to be home. Now we have our Florida churches to share at. We should be flying back to Haiti the end of Sept. Thanks to everyone who daily pray for us and FMS and all the special prayers during the summer while we have been on the road.

First Post.
I am new at this so I guess I will just tell what has happened so far this summer. We arrived stateside June 9 to take a connecting flight to Atlanta, Ga. to help pack up and move our daughter and family back to Florida. What a blessing to have them back and so close. We arrived there June 16 and that weekend we went to Crystal River to spend fathers day with Richards dad and visit their church. We came home and were there a week and packed the car for our summer deputation.
We started out in S. Carolina with 2 churches there to speak and share our power point of the blessings God has given FMS and us as well. We then drove to New Jersey where we stayed with dear friends John and Leah for a little more than 3 weeks. While there we also travelled back and forth to Lititz, Pa. on two weekends to share at The Church of the Bretheren and Millport Menn. Church. While there we stayed with Dr. Bill and Betsy.
While in N.J. we visited alot of Richards old stomping grounds (he lived there until age 12), visited family, dinner with family and met many new friends. Had a great time as always when we are there.
We left there for Tennessee. We stayed 9 days with good friends Jack and Bonnie in their lake home and boy does it have a beautiful view out the back. It is right on a cliff that over looks Dale HOllow Lake. THey were working all week, but they took off Wed. and we went out on their boat on the lake. Spent 5 1/2 hrs. there, mostly in the water. What a relaxing day. We all looked like big purnes but we slept very good that night. The first Sundday there we spoke at The Church of the Harvest in Grimsley, Tn, Pst. Rogers church. They've had a team come twice to Haiti and Lord willing again this coming year. Last Sun. we shared at Jack and Bonnies church, Byrdstown UMC. They too are excited and may have a team coming. PTL!! We left after church Sunday and made our way to Branson, Mo.
This morning we will be checking out of this motel, going to check in with our vacation pkg. We will also pick up our tickets to "SIX". If any one ever has a chance to see this group of 6 brothers, it is well worth your time and money. Here in Branson they have won Best Show two years running. They are unbelievable. We are also getting free tickets to The Hoobknobbers show. I think its like a comedy/varity show. Oh, for those of you that know a few "personal" things about Richard you will get a laugh out of this. We are also getting a dinner coupon for the ................ OLIVE GARDEN! He's not too happy about that but I am. As of July 29th we've been married and we've not eaten there since we were dating and went there once. YES!! Well, I guess I'm all caught up so I;ll close. I think I will maybe update once a week, maybe on Friday or Monday. Like I said, I'm new at this and I will just have to see how it works.
P.S. Also PRAY!. We received an email that one of our containers should be coming out today or tomorrow. PTL!!!
